Title: Another ICV Saga
Post by: SonomaGTLN2 on July 30, 2009, 07:28:16 PM
When I first did the swap it seemed my car had a slightly searching idle (300 rpm or so fluctuation) so I cleaned out the ICV.  Ever since it's been idling nicely at 900 rpm.  For curiosity sake I hooked up a dash light to see if I had any CEL codes coming.  Lo and behold, the ICV code was there so I reset the code and voila, the next time I started it, no code.  On the subsequent drive, I was cruising at 55mph and after 30 seconds the light comes on.  When I let off the throttle, the light went off and remained off until my car was idling for about 30 seconds then came back on.  It seems like at any steady-state throttle position the light will come on. After the CEL came on when idling, I checked the code and it was the ICV code again...does anyone have a clue as to what might be going on?  Also worth mentioning if I unplug the ICV the code happens immediately, not after 30 seconds.

Thanks,
AJ

Lambda code 1221 I'm guessing, your car is running too rich or too lean for an extended period.

Mine does the same thing... thought it was a small vacuum leak, but ICV issue makes more sense. Not sure what to do about it, though.

I get around 29 mpg in my E21 brick and I powered the icv manually and it actuates so I don't know what could be wrong there.  It's just strange that the light goes on and off while driving.
