Title: Bypassed heater valve, now A/C blows warm on passenger side...
Post by: JoeDellio on July 30, 2009, 06:09:41 PM
I had no heat. So I bypassed the heater valve, but I did it half ass. All I did was cap off the right port on the heater core, and hooked up the feed and return.

I know now I needed to make it Tee into both heater core ports, because my heat is only hot in the middle and on the passenger side.

Today I kicked on the air and it didnt seem half as cool as it usually is, and I noticed the passenger side is blowing warm. And no, this isnt an AC problem, it was just vacked and charged.

Does the heater valve close off the heater core completely when running the A/C, or what? If anything Ill just bypass the heater core completely, seeing that I live in FL.

After thinking about it, Im pretty sure BMW has it designed to use the heater valve as its cutoff for the A/C, instead of being like a normal cheap car that does it by just turning dial from cold to hot. It would have been nice if they would have had it work with the hot cold duct in the middle of the dash.
