I now have my turbo project motor all torn down and am awaiting the lower cr pistons, so in the mean time what should i do? What are some of the standard replacements and upgrades that i should do while i have the engine torn apart. I know about the bearings, but im sure there are more things as well. I have the obdI m42 from a 1994 bmw 318is. This also might be a good sticky for people in the future with their engines torn down. It would be a good place to go to find everthing in one spot.

nothing eh? our motors are that wel built from the factory?

I would recommend upgrading to ARP studs and replacing all of the timing guides and sprockets but these motors are pretty solid.

Depending on how many miles you have replace the front and rear main engine seals. If they are old they could start to leak under boost.

I assumed that was a given, but good point. It's also a good time to chase all the threads and make sure that none of the timing cover or oil pan threads are stripped.
