Castrol Magnatec 15W-40 Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil meets ACEA A3/B3
garages are telling me now to use
Castrol GTX 15w-40 High Mileage for engines over 75,000 miles

anybody??

i just use what the bentley manual recommends. 15-50 mobil 1

I use synthetics too, in the engine, transmission and differential. Your mechanic is probably seeing a lot of little oil leaks...GTX will minimize these. The synthetic oils will ooze more as they're thinner. I just ignore the leaks & run Mobil1 5w30.

dose anybody know what bmw recomend on our engines? m42b18

Shell rotella synthetic 5w40. It's cheaper than some non synthetics.

15-50 is that a joke?

That's what we run in the race car. Not sure it's really necessary for street cars, but do what you like.
