Title: who has cruise control on their cars (e30)
Post by: superj on July 14, 2009, 05:57:48 AM
my car has no cruise so i have been collecting hte necessary parts and junk but when i went to put in the engine bay control with the calbe that hooks to the throttle,  i noticed there is no spot on the firewall to bolt it to,  like on the m20 models.

how does your cruise control mount and where?

where does it plug into for power?

mine was off a 325e i parted so i think it won't work.  the switch works fine and mounted up perfect to the column but that is all i have so far.  its going to be tough to find m42 specific stuff.

I put cruise in mine recently.  I pulled the whole system off of a 89 325is.

The one I pulled was mounted to a bracket that bolts to the same bolts that hold the airbox in.

The bracket I used doesn't quite fit on both bolts, I've read that the bracket from an M42 E36 will work.

The power is routed through the distribution panel - a white panel on the left side of your steering column on the firewall.

mine lookds just like yours but mounts differently so i guess i will look for that bracket you are talking about.  i know the harness plugged in in the foot well but i couldn't remember where.
