Title: Can an O2 sensor get burned out in 5K if running too rich?
Post by: JoeDellio on July 02, 2009, 07:10:47 PM
My O2 is pitch black with soot after 5000 miles, covered in black soot, Ive had codes 1222 and 1226 for awhile now.

I was wondering after it gets fouled out too much that it is no good. Ive tried cleaning it, but that only lasts so long.

I wanted to know that even though its new, if it will get so fouled that it is garbage, where cleaning cant help it.
