Title: testing a starter
Post by: seph429 on June 23, 2009, 08:54:23 PM
Okay so i found this starter in a junk yard, i have no idea if it works. is there any way i can test it besides just re-installing everything and realizing it doesnt work? (car doesnt have to start really, just prove it can spin the flywheel)

thanks!

Touch the terminals to a battery with some short leads.  Just be careful not to spin it too long...it'll burn out if it spins too fast.  Check the solenoid too - it has to push the starter armature.

Check the reference area of this site for manuals, schematics and other important items.  Welcome to the club!
