Title: How do I disassemble the door mirrors?
Post by: dannejonsson84 on June 18, 2009, 01:52:26 PM
Please, help!

I am about to paint the mounting base plate for the door side mirrors. To do so, I have to part the two halves of the mirror casing to be able to separate it from the base plate. I have dismounted the mirror and removed the plastic rivets but the two halves are still stuck together.

How do I separate them?

have you taken the mirror out of the housing, I think there are fasteners behind the mirror.

Yes I have, and also the plastic screws that attaches the mirror casing to the metal hinge, but the two pieces of the "frame" are still stuck. I don't dare to pull too hard, but should I?

Forgot to mention that it is the e30 model.

I am not sure how they come apart, my guess would be that some force will be required. Always remember... with a big enough hammer anything is removable.
