Title: 92-95 M42 E36 Tuned Map's Custom Chips
Post by: bearsbmw on June 17, 2009, 10:43:13 PM
After a few month's of hard work and money spent me and friend have figured out the 282DME chip and can now begin to write files for boosted & NA applications... Unfortanly the chip's will not be free nor stupidly over priced

$80-100+ship for boosted chip tune  8psi and 12psi apps

$30+ship  NA performance chip 91 octane

We are still working on some issues but will post when everything is ready

Are the NA chips comparible to the others on the market in terms of redline increase, and +/- 20 HP/TQ increase? Are you in the US Bear?

They are comparible(15-20hp) and they are also safer as I back the timing off 1deg in all rev ranges from the popular professionaly tuned dinan chip ign map ... I can also do custom tunes for a little extra   rev limit, speed limit, Fuel and Ign maps, AFM , Idle ect.

What DME do you have?

unfortanly we are still working on bigger injectors but we should be able to get you something soon... its the most difficult part of the chip to crack

Installation of a chip is very easy, the hardest part is opening the ecu, then once it is open, remove the stock chip the insert the new chip with the indicator facing the right direction.

What mod's do you have done to the valve train that will play 7500Rpm ??

around 6900 rpm on stock internals(m42) the valves begin to float... Unless you have upgrades it's asking for surious trouble

Not sure on what DME I have, Ive had the car for like 4 months, I never took a look.

I was looking for one for a 12lb turbo app., do you consider your boosted map to be alright alone, or do you reccomend using it as a base and then fine tuning it with another system?

If your using the same turbo as me and the same injector size then yes it will be a set it and forget it tune

You will need a wideband

I can do it but you will have to do some loging and use a cheap ebay RRFPR to see where your boost hit's otherwise you need a dyno

i ve done nothing but somehow my engine rev limiter is 7000 rpm ( i dont know why)but i havent faced any trouble (thank god till know)
i have seen ludiagsm reving his engine up to 8500 with a rebuilt bottom end but a completely stock head ...
plus mark d chip claims it increases the rev limiter to 7100 ...
i also had to get into a megasquited m42 while tuning it on the streets and they set the rev limiter to 7200 and they hit it alot !!
not sure about the 7500 but i m whiling to take my chances :D

Any chance of making these so you can run the MAF from the later models? I dont want to run boost through a AFM.

I have access to a dyno and a great tuner for both N/A and boost, maybe we can work together to make some really solid tune's.

There is a difference at dme pin though. It is not the pin# 66, 413 dme, like indicated in that link.

For e36 m42 dme m1.7 is a pin# 81 which might not the same pin on e30 m42 dme

Here a snap from bentley though.

Just came across though. I think it might work cutting the green wire under dash. My car does not have an ews module. But I am 100% possitive if cut the wire at pin 81 on the dme. I'd been through this on my swap dme if you want some pics on that I'll making a post later on :)

What is the problem with your EWS system? If the file will be created from your original -then you dont have problems with EWS. If not- there have some tricks to do that!! Please post your original file here to look at it!

Open your ECU and tell me software version. As i understand you have 590 ECU or 950?? Take a picture inside the ECU and post it here - and tell me year of the car!
