Title: LB Turbo project
Post by: BeamerIS on May 26, 2009, 08:08:19 AM
Hi everybody,
My name is Bjorn and i live in Belgium. I have a E30 318IS as a daily driver.
I love BMW's and i try to keep mine as stock as possible... The interior
is still the oem but i'm changing it to black and white leather. I try to do
all the work on the car myself.
Some mods are allready made... M3 steering wheel, center console and
shifter are placed.
Since the car is my daily driver it runs on LPG... costs nearly nothing here
in belgium it costs 0.29 euro / liter and gas costs 1.30 euro / liter.
I allready placed a valve saver system and the car runs great... it even
performs really good on LPG...
Now i was thinking about placing a turbo... not really a high boost...
was thinking about 7 PSI
I have started gathering parts... so far i found a HKS SSQV for a real
good price (it was free) and a VW Golf 1.9 TDI intercooler... its not
a real big one but i want to place behind the grill so that you cant really
tell its a turbo. I like the sleeper look...
I orderd a turbo online with a internal wastegate and was planning
on welding the turbo manifold myself...
i was wondering if some of you people could tell me what other internals
i need to change...
Once again i am not planning on running high boost...

but you wanna run turbocharged with LPG? i think that it's difficult to make car running good with gas, so running the car good with LPG is quite impossible expecially if you wanna switch often to gas and lpg!

however i know that until 0,6-0,7 bar you don't need to change the internals, but it's quite sure you have to change engine management

Thanx deftones...

I only use gas to start... once it hits 2000 rpm it switches to LPG automaticly
Have been trying to get a lot of info from people i know that have
done turbo conversions and it should be able to work...
it seems worth a try... and otherwise i can allways switch to gas and lose
the LPG
