Title: 318is and LSD swap?
Post by: Blip Bavarian on May 22, 2009, 03:29:29 PM
is the swap from a small case diff to a med case diff a direct swap.  Do you use all of the same hardware from the small case??

will a diff from a e34 be a direct bolt on replacement??  Sorry for all the noob questions...

the med case is a direct swap and uses the same hardware, i think the e34 diff will fit if you use an e30 cover

from what i know there are 2 versions of the E34 rear diff casing. Do check properly..
And yes, if you get the right E34 rear diff, just need to change the rear cover from an E30 med casing... and also the output flanges needed to be changed too... I've done it before.....

just buy a 4.10LSD from a 325iA and swap it in, then your good to go. A m42 probably wont tear out one of those.
