Title: Non responsive steering
Post by: Jorgeconrico on May 13, 2009, 03:57:03 PM
The steering in my car has seen better days. It feels sloppy and non responsive. While driving I can turn the wheel side to side and not get any response. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is some play in the steering and I'm wondering what it could be. There are no leaks in the steering rack and I've changed the power steering fluid. Tie rods? Control arms?

If your ball joints are tight and the control arm bushings are not falling out or cracked and the inner and outter tie rods are good i will have to say your rack is worn out it doesnt have to leak for the gears inside to be worn out. Im not sure if there is a way to tighten the rack up or if you just have to replace it.

Check under your dash on the drivers side for the steering coupler, it gets loose and your steering goes sloppy. Tighten it up and you should be good to go.
