I have a 1990 318is went to start it one day and no go. I have had the ecu tested its fine, i have replaced the main, fuel pump and o2 relays. Still no go. I can't hear the fuel pump when i turn the ignition on and there is no spark although there is power at the coil. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Does the engine crank?
Do the spark plugs smell like gas after cranking?
Do you have compression?
-
Hey how ya goin
Yes the engine does crank, it has compression i havn't had a look at the plugs but pulled the fuel line off and cranked the car and not a drop.
-
Well, probably a deap pump. If you are lucky it is just a clogged filter. Remove the back seat and listen for the pump whine.
-
Yeah i have pulled the seat out already but the pump is not making any noise at all, this is what i first thought it was, but to lose spark and fuel at exactly the same time seems a bit odd.

hows your crank sensor?
-
I'll check it out and get back

check pump by applying 12 V directly at the pump.
check for voltage at the pump when cranking the engine
remove fuel pump relay and check voltage with ignition in ON position (no cranking)
