do all the e30 318 m42 cars use the same ecu?  i know the m20b27 has two different ecus,  the m20b25 has two or three different ecus, and the m10 has one.  so,  do we all have a common ecu?

So I bought one of these dinan chips off ebay for like 85 bucks,, Had it for about 8 months,, I jump started my car one day after leaving the lights on (:P), and my car wouldn't idle anymore.. (no I didn't cross + and - or any dumb shit like that lol) it only idled after unplugging the ICV...
SO fast forward 3 months of riding with no ICV plugged in, I decide to swap the chip out and see if its the chip not allowing my idle,, sure enough, plug the ICV in with the stock chip in the ecu and it runs like a dream!!
Also I blew out a fuel pump shortly before uninstalling it.. it seemed like after I installed it my fuel pump got a LOT louder,, it finally crapped out..
Been running unchipped for a while now with no problems..
Now I'm not saying that every one of these chips will do these things to your car, but I just thought I should share my experience with anyone who's thinking of buying one :) Happy motoring!

m44's are '96 on, and are thus OBDII.  No chips for them.  I'm not sure if there was ever any kind of "shark" available similar to what turner was doing for the m52's and such.  I have a feeling you may be out of luck.

hi, i currently drive an Audi rs6 chipped/modded but am thinking of trading in for a new 08/09 335xi  lots of miles on my Audi.    does Dinan make a chipor any other mods  yet for the 335xi ?  and if so,  how much extra power do you get ?   thanks

I have one of these chips purchased off ebay for a 91 318is,  the car runs much smoother and it does have more pep, I paid $54 shipped.  It may not be as agressive as the Mark D, but it is well worth the price.  My mileage has dropped about 2 mpg, but that could be due to my newer heavy foot.  I was getting 29 now 27 on my loop.  Takes less than an hour to install and is a great mod.
