Hi all,
As far as i know this is the original alternator on the motor i put in my E21 (over 130,000 mi on the motor)...I've run into a strange charging situation where the dummy light does not come on for the bulb check when i first start up and it takes revving the motor up (probably around 5-6k - tach does not output correctly when the alt is off) then it starts charging and will stay charging when i let it return to idle. The problem is intermittent as last week it was doing the same and over the weekend the dummy light came on during start up and the alt was charging right away...I installed a voltage gauge and it's clear when the alt. starts charging again. Has anyone had this problem before? Might it be a worn voltage regulator?
Thanks,
AJ
