Title: Wheel Bolts
Post by: sammy on April 12, 2009, 06:57:18 PM
Hi all,

I bought a 91 IS last week. Its all good exept i thought the brakes were rather sluggish so i thought id bleed them this weekend, so i popped the cap of the wheels and was confronted with some odd looking wheel bolts.
They are like torx bits but have 10 points rather than the usual 6 or 12:mad:

Anyone know if this is a bmw tool i need or are they just aftermarket peices?

Any help would be much appreciated
Thankyou.

Sounds aftermarket to me. The standard bolts are just your normal hex bit...the bolt tool in the trunk next to the jack should fit them.

I would replace them with a set of known quality. Alot of the aftermarket sets can round out over time...

sounds like all 4 stud bolts are wheel lock type
