Title: electrical gremlin..again
Post by: Isamemon on April 07, 2009, 12:12:07 PM
91 318ic
this car had been abused by P.O who was dishonest about what all was wrong with the car....and I am bringing it back to life
but now some stange thisgs in the electrics
for the past few weeks everything was fine, everything worked
in the past week the dash lights went out and the gauge lights
however the interior lights ( door ) still work as does the (original) radio memeory, trunk light, supposedly on the same fuse
I replaced the fuse ( saw nothing wrong with it) and checked power to it was ok
replaced the headlight switch, no difference
noticed that the back up lights werent working but that can be a coincidence as I had never checked to see if they worked after getting the car back on the road ( 3 weeks now)
cleaned all the grounds in the engine compartment dont know where other grounds can be

another odd one
my heater needs a new resistor, only works on high
but when I was pulling the above fuse to check , the heater stopped also
it also stops on the fuse pulled marked for the blower

the only mods I have made with electrics is to the electric fan conversion (delete fan clutch) and adding elipsoids, but that was all 3 weeks ago or more

any ideas would be a giant help,
Im pulling my hair out, and ther is not much left of it anyway

found it, fixed it
a poor attempt of someone else to fix electrical problems of the past
cut and spliced into the headlight circuit, bypassed the fog light relay, and ran another power to the fan in an attempt to bypass the resistor
