Title: a lil performance
Post by: manjambles on April 02, 2009, 07:01:25 PM
i was wondering how much HP you guys are getting out of ur m42 and if ur running it NA or with a power adder.

as far as what ive heard and researced this is what i was told to get some good performance out of or beloved m42

-either conforti performance chip or MARK D from canada

-get that dual mass POS flywheel out and either do the m20 swap (how does this work for those who have done it) or fully aftermarket clutch and flywheel

- rear end lsd, not to sure as far as gear ratio, its going drifting os help me out

-adjust timing, set intake cam forward 5 degrees

-exhaust with racing cat to keep my backpressure and muffler of somesort

-cone intake system and maybe bore the secondary plate on the Throttle Body 3mm. < is that the top hole or bottom (thats what HE said)

help  me out tell me what u think, tell me if im missing anything

search!!!!1!
this has been covered time and time again :)

but,

aem dryflow cone filter, dinan chip, exhaust done up with a glass pack for a cat dynomax super turbo muffler, short shift kit done with a z3 shifter, medium cased 4.10LSD, and im line locking 2nd gear, and scratching 3rd.

leave your timing alone. and dinan chips are cheaper, customer service is geat, and exactly the same hp gains. leave your tb the same, 2.1L metric mechanic ralley engines use oem tb.

oh and lest i forget a DROP, and a iS lip ;)

theres not much more that you can do to the motor without spending big money.

stroking is expensive and doesn't produce much more power over stock.

if you want power, you go turbo.

best feel good mods are:

m20 flywheel conversion
markd chip
full tune up
coil on plug conversion
