Hi, i'm new to the forum. I recently bought a 94' 318is, how do i tell if its a m42 or an m44?
-
94 should have a m42. unless its had a engine swap.i bought a 91 the other day that has a damn m44 in it. so you never can tell

The intake manifolds look quite different. Like 3seriesnut said, you should have the M42 in the '94. The M44 appeared about 6 months into 1995.

The E36 M42 and the M44 use essentially the same manifold. That is the E30 M42 manifold.
