Post by: 3seriesNut on March 17, 2009, 12:05:09 PM
will the header from a 318is fit in the 318i compartment?

ive been looking for a performance header from the 318i and have found nothing. anyone got a link to some headers?

The header on the 318iS and the 318i late model m42 cars are the same. So yes, a 318iS header would fit just fine, but you already have one. It is pretty well established that the stock m42 header is about as good as it gets. Most "performance" headers, are almost exactly the same as stock, ie things you would see on ebay. I don't know much about the supersprint headers, but as much as they cost, they surely are not worth it.

i just found that the one on my current project has a cracked collector flange and the head flange is warped. thats the reason for asking.

Gotcha, well any header from either a 318iS or 318i should do the trick. Good luck.
