I'm in the beginning throws of an M42 rebuild and while doing the teardown I found out that one of the 2 cooling line hose barbs on the head was badly corroded and broken off flush with the head. Has anyone encountered this that might know if there are replacement barbs for the head? I'm not sure if these are pressed in or screwed in and I didn't want to guess unless I have to. I have tried to find the part numbers for them on realoem.com but have had no luck. They are pictured on one or two of the diagrams but have no part numbers associated with them. By the way, the smaller barb toward the center of the head is the one that broke, the other one by rear of the head does not look that good either. I think I'd be better off addressing both of them now and may have to wing it and fabricate a replacement. Your thoughts, experience or idea's are welcome.

I *think* the originals are pressed into the head.... Contact M42 Member bmwpower on here, as when he rebuilt the M42 that I now have, he had the head rebuilt and had those (2) metal outlets fixed... (I can't remember at the moment how it was corrected)...

Please post how you finally correct the problem. I've got a spare engine with the same situation. I had thought about drilling out the original fittings,tapping the head and installing brass hose barbs.
The forward (smaller) nipple is for the TB heater which I plan on deleting this summer while the aft fitting is for the heater core, have to keep that one.
