Title: WP hydraulic tensioner "clacking" causing phantom knock? Code 1226
Post by: JoeDellio on February 26, 2009, 03:22:47 PM
I get a 1226 code. Replaced my O2 first, no change, it was BLACK, probably could have just cleaned it. I notice a clacking when idling and I investigated it is coming from the WP hydraulic tensioner. I can see it moving back and forth at idle making a nasty sound that it very noticeable.

Could this be causing phantom knock that the knock sensors are picking up? Im guessing then the ECU would pull a shitload of timing causing the car to run rich at idle, which in turn might have been blackened my O2?

Need to get this sorted out, I have a rough idle that sounds like I have some nasty cams. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? Im trying to get a hold of some KS's to try out, but it will come right back if its doing what I think its doing.
