It is my understanding that the '94 318is also has the M42.  Are there any major differences?

intake manifold is diffrent, and the oil pan is diffrent.
it also has knock sensors.

some people say the hood wont clear the motor with a e36 motor, but it does...

What is different about the oil pan?

I've got sump clearance issues, so anything thats shallower is great IMO! I've got a '91 M42, and if the E36 M42 sump is shallower, sounds like a good idea. (just chucking idea's around...)

E36 pan interferes with the swaybar on the E30.
