i just got my m42 for my 1974 bmw 2002, and i wanted to do some time of forced induction on it. i was origionally plannin on turboing it but the more i read the more skeptical i am of doing it. i think i have decided to go with a supercharger for multiple reasons. 1) the reliabilty and driveability 2) the big past of failed turbo applications 3) i might track the car some and turbo lag isn't ideal in that situation.
that being said i have some questions about the supercharger application. i know about the DASC kit but its pretty pricey and i am more of a DIY'er anyways, although my knowledge of supercharging a car isn't the best(hence trying to learn, right?). my question is what would i need to do to take a "junkyard" supercharger and put it on my car. the DASC kit uses an eaton m62 blower and that is the same as the GM cars of the 90's (grand prix gxp's, bonneville's, etc.), so i was wondering if i could use one of those and make my own "kit". if so what would i need? i've also wondered about the eaton m45 from a mini cooper S. if this works, the same question please (whats needed for a kit)
i apologize the the lengthy post and noob questions, but any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance!,
