Title: sludge removal ?
Post by: Isamemon on December 25, 2008, 01:11:07 PM
91 318 with blown head gasket. all coming apart this weekend. dont want to run engine again, any good ideas to get the "Cream" (oil and water mix) out of the oil system.
my thoughts,
before head comes off, drain h20. drain oil, drop lower pan and remove sludge, temporary replace pan,  pull plugs. change filter. dump in light weight oil, crank engine. drain oil
head off, shoot solvent down oil passages into catch pan ( lower oil pan is off) , drain
remove and clean oil filter housing and anything accessible wiht lower pan off
replace serviced head and pan etc
change filter, add oil, fire up, ruun a few minutes, drain oil and change filter. Put in good oil

or does this sound like overkill
