Title: head bolts
Post by: Isamemon on December 21, 2008, 11:20:01 PM
Hello
Im new to this forum, and new to bmw cars, but have two bmw bikes.
bought this one on a gamble, has a known blown head gasket.Towed it home today. Reading through the only manual available at this time (Chilton, came wiht car) says replace head bolts...do not re-use...
1) is this true ?
2) was gonna order a head set, h2o pump and thermostat through pelican tomorrow...are there better parts places out there
3) are head bolts if needed, dealer only type item
4) never been a fan of chilton manuals, whats best out there

91   318   cabrolet  tripple black   5 speed   141k

thanks

Get a Bentley manual, they are the best.
Not sure on if you need new headbolts, or what, but Pelican is a good resource.

Head bolts must be replaced, no exceptions.
