Title: Trunk tool kit
Post by: BMWManiac on December 13, 2008, 11:30:43 AM
Anyone have any pics of their trunk tool kit mounted?  I bought a complete tool kit, just wanted to see it mounted.  Is it two screws and just the strap that holds the kit to the trunk?

Yes, 2 screws at the bottom that go into the trunk lid and then the strap. Also the bigger plastic lock screw at the top. Sorry no pic.

You have some nice extra trim around the entire part of the trunk!
Do you know whats up with that?
Did you add it?

Yep, I added that, since we all know there isn't enough weight on these cars!  :)

I also wired in a second trunk light.

Nice, does it do anything to keep out sound? Or just for looks?

What is that plastic tool on the left side of the last pic? All the tool kits I have seen were missing that (including mine).

that is to manually lower the windows, but from my understanding it is for the e28 and e24, not compatible with the e30 windows. Maybe the really early models.

Many US cars would not have it, countries that demanded mechanical emergency roll-down tools came with them.
Them being that plastic piece and the long metal thin piece that is slid through the spark plug tool.
They are for rolling down a electric window in an emergency, localized versions that had this have a small popout in the door panel cards that allow this tool to go through and roll down a window with a broken motor, etc.
We have little need for it, other than it "completing" the kit.
