Title: Help!! Easy repair turned nasty
Post by: sloowm42 on November 20, 2008, 04:51:40 PM
Hey folks, so here's the story, I have a 91 318is, 140k.  I got a crack in my oilpan courtesy of a chunk of concrete off the back of some dudes pick up on the highway, I pulled over, seemed like a small crack so I drove about 6 miles home and checked the oil level twice on the way and saw some minimal loss but nothing more than like a cup.  So I changed the oilpan and filter, fire the car up and it's running really rough and I hear a lot of valve noise, I checked the oil pump and it's operating fine so I'm at a loss.  does anybody have any ideas? seen this before? thanks for reading and thanks for any advice

no oil pressure = bad for hydraulic lifters.  my guess is the oil pickup is damaged or blocked.
