Hey anyone have info on this engine? Never knew Hartge developed the m42
-
oops, just saw the other thread.

That is a beautiful thing.

I've just scanned this for you.
-
Hartge is probably a lot of money...
if you want a 2.1L - just call metric mechanic & purchase their internals from their M42 Rally motor.
-
I don't think the MM kids sell ALL of the components (at least pistons they state in FAQ's) seperate, although they do seem to sell a variety of components.
-
they'll sell you anything you want & they'll help you figure out what exactly you need in order to achieve what you want...
I currently have a runing tab with them for my ongoing project - & so far I got the FI piston / rod kit (10:1 compression with 2.0L) + M44 Rally cylinder head + 258 degree intake cam + single timing chain conversion + 360 degree main bearing oiling system.
they'll do custom set ups as well, so much so, that they'll actually design a set up from scratch for you according to which parameters you are looking for... I.E. desired dispalcement, compression, cam & crank combos.
they even have euro diesel M47 cranks.
off course, unless you'll have them build you a complete motor (9K) - you may have to find a shop to open up the cyl walls for (all) metric oversized pistons.
call them & ask for teddy.... Metric FTW! :)
good luck.

MM is awsome, can't go wrong with them!
-
Thats awesome!
I have been in correspondence with Teddy regarding engines, I was just reading the FAQ on the site :P
I am rebuilding my 91 318i and have plans for a 3 plate LSD and a Rally 2100, sounds like your engine project will produce some fun times :)
Cheers!

yeah... LOL it should be fun when its all finished up.
I told teddy I dont generally go past 5500 without cringing! :) he freaked & was like 'dude, when you assemble the motor with our parts, PLEASE make sure you rev that f-er to 7800!'
now, if thats not confidence in your parts, then I dont know what is... :D
