Title: mpg readings wacky
Post by: ///m42 sport on November 10, 2008, 06:07:16 PM
I noticed that my mpg gauge moves but the needle stays at 7mpg no matter how light on the gas I'm at.  Is this a mechanical or electrical problem?

I imagine electrical since E30's seem to have issues with gauges.  Seems as though the first thing to do is pull out the gauges, check the connection and re-sodder, then replace to dash and see if it works.

More often than not if any of the gauges start acting up, just smack the dash just above the cluster and that should fix it

Well I changed my 02 sensor today and the mpg gauge seems to work correctly now.
