Title: Help with part name and understanding function
Post by: bearsbmw on October 23, 2008, 08:45:14 PM
Not a picture of my car but same idea

What is that unit called (with arrow) ? I see two coolant lines under it aswell witch would tell me some sort of throtle body heater... Has anybody ever heard of them cracking and leaking coolant into the intake? ... I did a 20psi test on the intake and I  hear a leak somewhere around that black plastic where the crank ventilation imput is....it's a thin flange with some sort of cavity I guess ... thanks!

Well if that hose goes over to the huge black round device right between the brake fluid reservoir the the firewall, that is your brake booster check valve hose. From the intake, a vacuum is created for the booster to hold pressure to help you with the brakes, so that is is not so hard, like it is when you pump when the car is turned off.

Im talking about the device that the point of the arrow is directly over where the PCV connects...is it some sort of PCV one way valve?
