Title: squeakiing belts
Post by: ///m42 sport on October 16, 2008, 10:42:31 AM
Does this mean my belts are too loose or too tight?  They squeak on startup when its cold outside for a couple seconds.

Means they are loose. They are slipping and could either be bad and loose or one or the other. I've heard that if you rub a bar of soap on the belts it will stop squeaking

Belts stretch over time and the telltale screech means its time to change them.. I recently put a new belt on my however, and maxed out my adjustment, and it was still loose.. I threw in a belt 1/2" smaller and haven't had a problem yet :)
