Title: High beam problem
Post by: dbgrubbs on June 10, 2006, 02:44:32 PM
Today I decided to finally install some ellipsoid headlights. Everything went fine except for the drivers side high beam. Couldn't get it to work. After swapping bulbs and checking all my connections, I decided to check for power. Nothing.  To be honest, I don't use my high beams much so I'm not even sure how long it's been like this. Before I spend half the day trying to trace things back, does anyone have a logical explanation for only the drivers side beam being out?

thanks
Don

Check your Fuse. The high and low low beams have thier own fuse. when you upgrade from sealed beams, you should cange your fuse to 15 amp instead of the 7.5 amp for each light.(4 total)

Haven't checked the fuses because the passenger side high beam is working. Just the drivers side is not. No power!

You know, I feel rather stupid now. I've been working with Alfa Romeos the past few years. These involve substandard wiring and multiple uses of one circuit. Never occured to me that ONE headlight would have it's own fuse. I figured at the very least the high beams were fused together. Live and learn. Thanks for the obvious suggestion. Saved me some time!!! Beam on!!

I did the same thing on my car when I did the H1/H4 conversion.
