Title: any difference in gear boxes?
Post by: ///Harlis on October 12, 2008, 06:04:55 AM
im doing an M40--> M42 swap. I have the gear box that came with the m42, but i was going to use the old gearbox because i know its history, how much play, etc. etc.

i was wondering if there was any differences between the gear boxes on these two engines. i realize they are both getrag 240's. but did they come out with diff syncos/ ratios or anything?

i really doubt they did but i could be wrong. thanks in advance.

I'm fairly sure that the M40 & M42 engines used different gearboxes.
