Title: M42 TB and ICV in a M44?
Post by: nuvolarossa on October 06, 2008, 11:47:24 AM
I have a M44. The M44 engine have the Idle control valve integrated in the throttle body.
I would like to use a standard shape idle control valve, like the one from the M42 or M5x, with a M42 throttle body.
I was checking the ETK, ETM and TIS to try to find if they are swappable and I found some differences... but checking with other engines I saw that the 328's icv works like the M44 ICV, with same electric wiring and diagram than M44 but M42 is way different...

328's and M44's have 3 wires and internal schematic is the same
M42 has 2 wires and internal schematic is different...

Someone knows more? Basically I need to know if M42 ICV is a bolt-on with M44 ECU, or if it will not work.

As I know you'll ask why I'm doing this, I need to do this because I have the e30 m42 intake manifold (going turbo) and there is no way to fit the m44 tb with ICV in there.:(

IIRC someone fit m44 engine with m42 ecu... what ICV did you use?
