Where can I get a M-Technic body kit for a 1992 E30 Convertible? cost?
-
eh?
-
Not sure for e36's. I never really looked for an mtech in e36 model.
I know e30 mtechs are NLA from dealer unless you find a dealer that has some pieces stored in a warehouse somewhere. I just purchased a brand new MTECH2 front valence from M3 Ryan on e30tech. He bought it brand new and never used it. Still has all mounting hardware and installation instructions.
MTECH is rare. Most of it you find will probably be used. Keep checking the forums and I am sure something will pop up eventually.

um, my '92 is an E30. E30 cabrios were sold as late as '93.
-
ah....forgot about cabbys. Well yea then...if I were you then I would check the r3v and e30tech forums. There is usually a vert mtech kit for sale.
-
okay..hmm.. where can i get a body kit for an E30 CONVERTIBLE 1992 online? i never seem to find any...

post Want to Buy threads on all e30 forums. search the For Sale threads. You may have to piece one together.

(Although some I would not buy!) Thats probably the best place... but I've heard some of there stuff isn't the best quality...
-
oh yeah. http://www.abrahamsmotorsport.com does orders from a european website called Schmiedmann's. They have some mtech 2 parts, but also I have heard concerns about fitment.
-
Don't buy reproduction. The MTEC kit should be the same foe any coupe.
BMW still have them at around $800-$1000.
eBays is your only choice really - especially Europe - we have shitloads here!
-
Yea I agree dont get the knock offs mtech kits. If you check out white325is thread on e30tech forums, he tells you his woes of trying to install the kit. It comes with no hardware so you have to either rig something or take it to a professional to do. He gave up on it and is selling it.
I am pretty sure there are a few mtech vert kits on r3v for sale
-
coupe and cabrio rocker panels are different
-
alright so i've found the fenders, the typical set i find is fibreglass so that kind of ruins it, but! on the trunk...is it essentially the same only that the M3 trunk lid hangs out further and overlaps? or is the entire trunk opening different?
-
fenders? mtech2 kits do not have a fender part. Just the front bumper/valance, rear bumper/valance, sideskirts, and door pods.
If you are talking about m3 fenders, you have a lot of work ahead of you my friend. There is a lot of custom fab work to make those fit. If you are going that route, I know I have read a few threads on the subject on R3Vlimted and E30tech.
As for the trunk, I am pretty sure they are different. maybe some else can fill in on the subject.
Maybe you can clarify a little bit. Is about mtech2 or m3 stuff?

You are wrong. At least back in 1990 when i bought brand new E30 with factory installed M Tech II kit, it had also fender parts. Also trunk spoiler is the same as 2/4 dr models have. M Tech II kit was available for all bodystyles including Touring
Check out these Finnish E30 convertible & Touring, fender parts are easy to see. BTW this cab i just now under some serious motor upgrade, a BMW V8 ;)

During the last year i have bought 3 used M Tech II kits from german Ebay. Two of them have sold, one is still left for future projects.
-
when you say 'fender parts' you speak of the spat [rocker extension] that's on the fender. there's no flare [like an M3] per se
-
It's not a rocker extension, M Tech II rocker is a one piece item. Above rocker (on fender) Is that "fender part" , which is separate part, not "tied up" to rocker.

hey guys ...did anyone here ever fitted a m tech 2 kit to a cabrio ? i am having dificulties with fitting the outer panles and side skirts ,can't locate the drilling jigs for the skirts on realoem or bmwfans.info ,and the guys at my local dealership said it doesn't need drilling ,although i'm 99% sure they don't know what they are talking about, because the car doesn't have any holes on the beneath the door , and the plastic m tech skirt clearly fits by clamps inserted in holes drilled in the bodywork .....so , any ideea ? :D
