Title: E30 M3 drivetrain/engine/harnesses vs E30 M42
Post by: Cobra Jet on October 03, 2008, 10:57:15 AM
Is there a site or can someone lay out the differences between the E30 M3 drivetrain/engine/harnesses and those of the E30 M42?

The reason I am asking is, suppose there is a complete E30 M3 shell w/ no engine or trans (but everything else is there) - can one take the M42 components and drop them into the E30 M3 shell to get it drivable again?

OR

If one found an E30 M3 driveline - could it be easily installed into an E30 M42 shell?

For instance - what are the mechanical/eletrical/drivetrain differences between the two (besides the obvious engine physical & horsepower differences)?

Dash cluster?

Are the engine harnesses or body harnesses similar for a swap, or not?

What's the major difference w/ the M3 manual trans and the M42 manual trans?

Isn't the suspensions on both pretty much very similar?

Enlighten me.

probably the engine mounts, other then that it would just be the harness for the engine.
