ok so im doing my thermostat change and i have everything off. thermostat housing fan clutch. only thing giving me a headache is the stupid thermostat. it is seated in the block like no other. any hints or pointers on how to get the thermostat out? its really annoying to get this far in the process and have this part mess it up. any help would be appreciated.
i have a 1991 318is with the m42 motor, thanks.

what's the problem? are the bolts tight? if so, soak 'em in PB Blaster or the likes overnight then go at it gently. You can hit 'em with freeze spray for that extra edge.

i got it thanks. the thermostat was just wedged in the block tite. i ended up whacking the hell out of it with a rubber mallet and getting a scraper and prying it off.
