Title: M42 engine question
Post by: e23bvachon on September 08, 2008, 06:39:36 PM
Hi there, I have an opprotunity to pick up a 1991 318 for considerably cheap, the only catch is that a 5th to 2nd gear change trashed the valvetrain. I found a M42 out of a 1995 318is and if i remember right a straight swap would be kind of a pain with it needing new electronics and the oil pan from the early m42, but will the head from the 1995 work on the 1991 motor?

Thanks, Bob
