Title: Oil Pump Reinstall
Post by: KenC on September 02, 2008, 10:13:59 PM
The factory repair manual indicates that some sort of special tool is required during the reinstallation of the oil pump into the timing case.  Is this true?  Does anyone have any details on it.

I am assuming that the timing chain, timing covers and lower chain case is out of the engine? The oil pump is located in the rear of the lower chain case. No special tools are required for this apart from the flywheel pin and cam locking tool for the chain removal.

However make sure you install new gaskets and/or o rings wherever applicable. The most important one is the profile gasket between the cylinder head and the lower chain case.
