Title: Dash lights!
Post by: 318isle on March 10, 2006, 12:13:49 PM
I noticed this morning as my car was idling, my Anti Lock, Batt, Brake Fluid lights came on. When I bring the idle up the lights went out!
Is this a sign of the SI batt. going Kaput! Alternator? Batt?
Please keep in mind it has been rainy and very wet/humid here this past week, so I'm not sure if it's moisture or not.
Any ideas would be great!

Aloha!

I'm guessing your alternator is about to puke. Try metering the battery while the car is running and see if the voltage is low. If it's low, say below 12 volts, it's probably the alternator.

Since you say it's been humid / moist, it's maybe possible the alternator belt might be slipping a little, but this is a long shot...

Okay, I'll try the meter. The belt is new and feels tight. However it didn't happen this afternoon and this evening as I drove home.

Mahalo for the advice!
