Title: head work worth it?
Post by: ///Harlis on July 30, 2008, 10:22:56 AM
I haven't swapped in my M42 to replace my M40 yet, figure i'll do some work on it while its out and accessible. I'm going to turbo it in the future, anyone got any suggestions on headwork while its "easy". any must do's? I'm only thinking 6-8psi, not decompressed. would a mild port and polish be worth it? apart from redoing the gaskets and flushing it im doing the timing chain. it has approx 140,000kms on it.

thanks in advance

I have no first hand experience with internal engine work, but metric mechanic has a nice pdf that explains the ins and outs of producing power from this engine. It's worth the read even if it doesn't completely answer your question.
