Title: Door Busted
Post by: EN318isPDX on July 24, 2008, 01:41:44 PM
So since I've had my car I've greased my door hinges once a month. A couple days ago my drivers side door started to make a nasty grinding/snapping noise. I dug into it and found that my "Door Brake" bracket busted in half. I'm curious how many other people have suffered from this same problem because when i pulled the bracket out it looked like very weak metal. My plan is to order a new one from pelican because a used one will most likely break again

I haven't had this problem, but I thought I read a thread a while ago either on Bimmerforums or R3v where people where having this same problem...

I think it was partly my bad because i did notice that there was a little metal on metal contact.. but i figured that was normal for the brake. It wore down the paint and from the friction I'm assuming caused the bracket to snap

Get one off the passenger side of a junk car. Should be like new. One side fits all. I have had one that lost it's grip and would not keep the door open. But no breakage.
