i have never done a turbo and was thinking of doing it and wanting to know what all do you have to do after installing it like tuneing and wat not can you just put it on and hook it all up and ready to drive?
-
haha i joined the m42 club just to bash your thread... BASH... just messin.
-
I like this thread. It is fun.
That looks like a nice piece, worth the price.
G&T, are you building an M42? or is this just a side project?
Whatever you are building now good luck, your m10 was my favorite e30.

Thanks, I am making just a few to fund my M30 turbo build. The M10 was my favorite also, I will build another.
-
These look quite nice.
I wonder if they fit E36 M42's as well....

realy nice you must strat e bay selling :)
-
They look like nice pieces of kit.
How much are looking at selling them for?
Do you need to remove the coil pack to fit them and the turbo?
Cristian
-
how much are you asking for them??

They are $500 shipped within the USA and $580 shipped overseas. The coil packs will need to be relocated.
The fender does not need to be modified like it is in the pic.

So I guess fitting an E36 is a no go then?
-
Mmmmmm This looks appetizing! I'll have to think about this.
-
they look fantastic, what is the coating on them?
pipe size ?
by the looks of them they are a t3 flange?
also are the machined flat after welding?
thanks sorry for all the questions

Sorry will not fit the E36.

Thanks, it's a 1200 degree coating that is baked on.
The pipe size is 1"1/4 schedule 40 with a T3 flange, both flanges are 1/2" thick.
They are made on a jig so no need for machining, the flange is straight.
No problem with the questions ask away, I am here to offer you guys a great manifold at a great price.
-
Nice Turbo!! Do you plan to make manifolds that could fit E36 cars?
-
Can you fabricate the piping? Might as well put a whole kit together!

Thanks, just making them for the E30, Neukin makes a bottom mount for the E36.

I decided to just make the manifold for the DIY person, so many options for intercooler and turbo.
-
I want one but TUNING
Hunter
-
You'll probably have to go for something like MegaSquirt to tune it properly.
Awesome looking manifolds mate, gives me very naughty ideas for my M42 touring project ;)
-
VERY good price!
-
No reserve on e-Bay now.

do you have anymore for sale i missed the auction end?
-
i bought one of these and it fits great you just have to put a washer under the pass side motor mount otherwise clearance is to small and the turbo hits the body hell of a noise

Post up some engine bay pics. What type of turbo did you use and how thick of a washer did you use?
-
Still making these manifolds? :o
I'd be interested! if you can ship it to Finland that is.. ;)
-
i used a 5mm washer under the pass side and i put a e28 535 engine mount on drivers side it is shorter then the m42 mount so it gave me more then enough clearance and does not hit the body anymore i also had to bend in the strut tower a bit to clear the down pipe.

Thanks for posting up the pics. Where did you add the wastegate?
Nice clean install, how much boost are you running?
-
wastegate i just added a short tube and flange onto #4 cyl runner and for boost 12psi on street tune waiting for the dyno definatly low 14s like it is now
-
Where's AFM, or did you change to MAF or MAP ?
-
Boosted - please fill us in with more details of your turbo set up and parts used! Very cool and your install looks good too!
Did you buy the turbo new or used? What else is needed to do what you did?
What boost psi are you running?
Is your engine still stock top & bottom?
-
im using the autronic sm4 stand alone which has built in map sensor so you dont need afm. Turbo i bought new from majestic turbochraging in texas its .48 ar stg 2 not sure on compressor size but its about double the size of the exhaust. everything else i made my self intercooler pipes i got bent at the exhaust shop or just bought aluminum pipes and cut to fit. im using 42lb injectors stock fuel pump. im running 12psi right now on street tune waiting for the dyno to go to higher boost. top and bottom end are still stock i just put in a steel head gasket and arp studs which droped Cp to 8.25:1 supposed to be good for 20psi but we'll see about that.
-
if your still making these i might be interested! would the fit in a 2002 m42 swap?!?
-thanks kevin

I think it would since there is a good amount of room around the fender well area.

But yours are cheaper!!!:D

Now even cheaper $390 shipped within the USA, last one left want it gone.
-
i picked up one. can't lay hands on it at the moment, because i'm in the middle east, but i can't imagine why anyone would NOT jump on a tubular, ceramic-coated manifold for that price, from someone whose work has been proven for years now.

Great another turbo in the future!
I hope that this will help to put the word end to common phrase: "these engines can't be boosted... turbo will blow the engine. bla bla bla..." :D
The engine doesn't blow if there is knowledged man working at it, knowing the limit until he can push it without damage it.
Usually people ask too much from stock internals and then blame the engine... or they do WRONG things not knowing how they works and then blame the engine :(
There are far worse engines than this that has been turboed, so I don't want to see those phrases anymore in this forum:D
The new M42/M44 turbo era is beginning:cool:
Good & tight how many manifold you've sold? (just to know how many m42 turbo there will be :D )

Do you have the flange left over? I'd be interested in that.
-
I have one of these that I may be willing to sell. Message me if interested.

Your selling it already? you just got it. Not going turbo...?
-
I didnt want to miss out on the chance to get it but the reality is that I have no where to work on my car right now so im probably going to just buy a faster car. I may be selling my 91 318is as well it only has 67k miles on it.
-
my m42 needs a turbo! hopefully i can start doing a turbo motor build this summer
-
Also interested, hit me up with a private message please. :)
-
O.k guys this is THE LAST ONE!!!!

Digging up an old one here, but thought i would ask the question. Is there any chance of making another one of these manifolds?? Or does anyone know of any turbo manifolds for sales at resonable prices.
-
i have one of g&t's manifolds, and the impression i got when i bought it 2 years ago was that he was frustrated with the experience of making M42 pieces, so i doubt he's likely to do so again-
but even if he did, there is no guarantee it'd be compatible with RHD cars.
i just moved, and i'll be getting mine out of storage in a couple weeks. if you'd like, i'll take pics of it then so you can at least have something for a local welder to replicate. let me know.
