My 318is has been a real money pit lately, and just when it starts to behave now this starts....
At random (as far as I can tell) I loose my indicators and wash-wipe, Neither set of controls respond. Then just as randomly they start again. They are usually non functional for a period of hours - not minutes. There is no pattern - they can work fine for ages then go off, and vice versa. :(
The indicators light up when I select hazard lights, and I can hear the relay go. I replaced the relay and indicator switch 6 months back, so I know they are (were) good. The switch also operates the full/dipped headlights, so I know there is power to the switch.
Its English summer time - which means lots of rain, and wipers suddenly stopping can be just a little dangerous.
Can anyone suggest where I should start to look to investigate the fault. Please.

Replace the fuse, even if it looks good. Then if that doesn't fix it, you get to track down the short that's causing the problem. Not fun. Probably a small fray in the wire's shielding that periodically shorts.
Those are my guesses anyway. You said the hazards still work even when your indicators go out correct? That happened with mine and it ended up being the fuse.

Thanks for the advice - I've just changed fuses 4,5,10,22,23 and 24.
Better safe than sorry.
I'll let you know if it makes a difference.
EDIT - That didn't fix it. The problems re-occurred again today. Any other suggestions ?
