failing pump? the damn rack was replaced about 5 years ago and I splurged for OEM. suck. this is bad timing as my ign cyl died on the 190e.

I too have this problem. My pump gets oooo....whheeeeee....oooo when the steering wheel is at neutral. Was told the pump is failing. Now sourcing for an electric PS pump. Wanted to dump the belt driven one.

well I guess even if it does fail, it won't be like massively catastrophic. i guess i'll start shopping around.

How's the ps fluid level? The moan you hear can also be caused by air entering in the front seal of the pump. You can rebuild the pump for about $30 or so.

the fluid level is fine. in fact, there might be a smidge too much in there.
