Im building a E30 m42 head but I would appreciate any suggestions, in a mild built head. I am going to use the vw lifters I found the part number for them. I wanted to know about using the 6MM valves from the E36 m42... are they a direct swap with the 6MM valve guides? I know the valves are the same size but is the length the same? also what other parts would I need. are the valve keepers different? any one help ?

AFAIK, everything is the same. You can verify the keepers and retainers by going to realoem.com.
Do you have a e36 head to pull parts from?
Why not just rebuild it instead?
Valves are expensive.
The VW lifters work well.

what valve clearance do you run with the vw lifters chaps? and what are the part numbers of them? also does anyone have a how to?
cheers

The VW lifters are hydraulic = no clearance

cheers for that, i thought they were solid lifters though? i take it they are just lighter than the bmw ones then?

This thread is old!!!
I'm interseted in this subject.6MM E36 valves in E30 head with vw light lifters.
With good oil pump I should be good to shift @ 7K.

Yes you can use the 6mm valves in the E30 head as long as you of course use new 6mm valve guides:) They are all the same from the S50/S52 M3 and M50's.
