Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, iamcreepingdeath (Sam) is now the proud owner of a 1991 BMW 318is, as of last night!!!!
Alas, my children, you shall all remember today as the day that Sam Denny became the owner of a BMW E30, and is now officially more obsessed about E30s than he was before!!!
the facts:
it has like 180k miles on it (mostly highway), its white, has the BBS basket weaves, got if for $1700 that's right!!!
cons:
it needs a new AC compressor, and there is a shallow dent in the passenger door.
Also, the previous owner has um, shall we say modified the car not quite to my tastes, so i have some work to do, i will be ditching the super loud muffler for something more stock, getting new exterior trim to replace the trim that has been painted blue (that's right) and eventually new tan leather seats to replace the tan leather seats in there that have been painted blue. So you guys get the idea.
plans:
after "de-modding", i plan first to get the H&R sport spring and Bilstien Sport shock package from Turner, and eventually some 16" wheels, preferrable Borbet type T's.
so, what d'yall think???
and I WILL POST PICS AS SOON AS I GET A CHANCE TO TAKE SOME!!!!!!!

Congrats oh the new ride.. I guess it is no surprise that that these cars get so boofed up by the youngsters...lol

location: Belcamp, MD. Bought the car from Ocean City, MD

Those mods are straight out of the 16 year old Civic owner's book of cool.
Seriously though looks like a great starting point and the tastelessness is easily reversed.
Keep us up to date.

Ya loose the dynomax tag on the back! I knew a kid who did similar things to cars.. he'd buy or trade a car paint all the trim inside and out and resell.. He painted wheels like the biggest noob ive ever seen. I thought you were kidding but i see that OBD in the picture and i cracked up!! Totally made me think of the 17 year old kid who has had 20 cars. Rip all that crap out! keep us posted! the exterior is nearly perfect.

nice, looks to be a good foundation to start on. congrats.

FWIW, someone here is selling a complete tan interior. It's not for an "is" but looks like it may be a good deal. You have to scroll to near the bottom: http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6086
If you want some really nice reconditioned recaros, check this site out:
http://www.2002parts.com/html/recaro_front_seats.html They do a lot of 2002 stuff, but also more e30 stuff than their website indicates
Try carefully painting the blue exterior trim black before discarding.
Also, I had Borbet Type Ts on my 318ti. They're fine and well made, but a little on the heavy side. You could do much worse. You may also consider 15s. Some 16s look big on these cars, IMO. That said some look great.
Good luck and keep us updated on your progress!

yeah, the stickers are definitely gonna go.
The exterior is good except the passenger door, which is dented pretty bad, i need a new door.

thanks for the help!!
i actually did paint the trim this weekend, it looks WAAAY better! i will post pics soon.
Borbet T's are on the heavy side? i heard they are super light!! hmm.. what wheels are super light?

i thought the cai and blue wiring looked neat :P
silly ricers..

wow....I could never destroy the beauty of my 318is like that. Just awful. Stock is so much better than that blue crap. Don't get me wrong, I do like some mods, but nothing much exterior, and not much interior either. Some rims, ellipsoids, cleaning the fogs up a bit, and replacing my cracked spoiled and dash is all I will ever do to the appearance. These cars are beautiful from the factory, there's no need to ruin that :) Good luck and keep us posted.

looks clean except for the uhh... blue.
