Title: Suspension woes....
Post by: BMWManiac on July 08, 2008, 10:58:13 AM
I replaced my control arms, control arm bushings, and tie rod ends (just where you can make corrections, not the entire arm)

Now, my steering is WAY soft.  I feel like I have an indefinite turning radius.  Eventually, it gets to full lock, but it takes an excessive amount of turning the wheel.....I have not had a chance to get under there and take a look because it is in getting tires and an alignment....that might be my problem.  The only thing is, I measured the amount of notches and replaced the tire rods to the same amount....weird.

I would think its an alignment issue.

Alignment sure made it feel a lot better...not sure if it is "normal" but I'm pretty sure it is....

These cars have a pretty long lock to lock... I think it's like 4 turns or something.  That's why everyone changes to the z3 or other racks.

Ok, I don't think I'm imagining things....I think I might have an issue with my rack....its like my wheel gets stuck and won't return past a certain point.

Sounds like a binding/damaged steering rack.
