What's going on man? I'm about to give up and settle for some Eibach Sportlines and rock those until the IE3's come in. Let me call them up now and see when the new back order date is.

From what I was told just last week, Eibach keeps telling IE it will be a couple of weeks...Problem is, Eibach has been telling this to IE for months....Not sure if I would my breath to long....

Why do you say Eibachs?  I believe the IE Stage III *IS* an H&R Race spring.  Or, is made by H&R for IE.

H&R has terrible inventory management, and from what I've gathered from a lot of thier vendors, they really don't care.  At least about the American market.  I waited months for the H&R coil-over kit, but gave up on waiting and just got the Vogtland kit with Konis.  Much cheaper too!  :D

IE Stage III is made by eibach. But both are on rediculous backorder.

I’ve seen the Sportlines on a few sites, but there seemed to be a discrepancy about what chassis it would fit. For example the site would say it’s for a 1991 318is, but the chassis would be listed as an e36, some sites would even just list it as an e30/e36 option. Anyway I called up a few performance shops around my way and they confirmed that there was a Sportline kit for the 1991 318is, but these guys didn’t know the difference between an e30 and an e36 (Dam muscle car shops…). So I figured I’d call the source and find out what’s the real deal. I knew it was bad news for us e30 318is owners when the first words out of the reps mouth was “oh yeah, it looks like we’re going to have to upgrade our catalog”, LOL. So without going into any useless details, “there is no Sportline kit for the e30 1991 318is” and just in case you were wondering like me… “The e36 springs will not fit, there is a difference with the rear springs” or at least that’s what the rep said.

On a similar note, I also called H&R and I spoke to a really nice lady who told me flat out that “there are currently no race springs for a 1991 318is and we have never made a race spring for that car.” Oh well, like I said she was a nice lady who was just punching in numbers on a computer.

Ahhh the wait continues, IE3’s baby!!! Number ###, on the IE3 wait list, LOL…

Technically she is correct.....There is no listing for a 318is race spring....Next time tell her it is for a 1988-1991 M3 (part # 50404-88) Most M3 suspension parts will fit the 318is

Didn't see anyone covering it, but yeah, sorry if anyone did but the IE's are made by Eibach but are same setup w/ weights and all as the H&R race springs but are not the same.

I gotta say good things about IE.  When I called to get help with some parts I have, it was discovered that I had the wrong part.  Essentially, Bimmerworld screwed up and sent me the wrong ones.  I was supposed to get the Spec E30 camber plates, not the ones for coil-overs.

Even though I had ordered them through Bimmerworld and they were the ones that screwed up, Jeremy at IE took care of it and really helped me out!  I have the proper camber plates on there way to me now...  FINALLY!

well i went and e-mailed Jeff Ireland...he claims their being painted at Eibach...

...

Eibach says they're being painted.  I expect a couple more days might do it.

It pains me to not be driving my BMW since I when I do the spring/shock install, ill also be repairing my control arm bolt issue. So i kinda am putting alot into when those springs will show their beautifully powdercoated selves on my doorstep or my office (forgot which address I gave them).

Just spoke to someone at IE, probably Jeff, I'm not sure. Anyway here's the scoop... As of yet they have not received any shipment from Eibach. The person on the phone told me that they will be calling everyone on the waiting list as soon as they ship the springs, however this  may take a few days because they are not sure when they will arrive. The guy said that if they don't contact me by Tuesday, that I should call back to get an updated status inquiry.

The wait continues...

I called yesterday the 27th and they still have not arrived. They are unsure when it will arrive as it was supposed to arrive the 26th.
They also mentioned that Eibach is not returning their calls. If this continues into next week, i will be cancelling my order...this is pretty ridiculous for a BMW tuner to not have control over its own inventory.

Most of the aftermarket units that work on the E36 should work, so you've got Ground Control, JTD, Rogue Engineering and others.  Turner (and DasAutoSport.com) have a JTD unit that's labeled as a heavy duty OE-like replacement which is only about $20-$30.

If you want to go with OE parts, I went with E46M3/convertible mounts on my car (HDs and stock springs).

I'm still waiting for Turner to call me back for a set of H&R coil overs.  Turner has pissed me off royally so much I really have no interest in giving them my business again.

For rear shock mounts, there are a multitude of options.  I guess E46 cabrio ones are the ones most people use now.

As for the front upper strut bearings...  Just use the OE ones with 3/4 deg of camber built in.  This is an OE part, and you can find it by looking on Bavarian Autosports web site.

Okay, while I hate Bill Turner's evil empire, that is in fact where I got these, and they are quite nice.  There's a "BMW shop fix" cheaper alternative as well that I'm guessing works just as well and is half the price, but these looked cooler.

It is a weld on part so you never know if it was installed correctly. A long time ago folks put spot welds on the washers after the car was aligned to keep the settings but I've heard this was corrected. The rear suspension crossmember is pretty light and is probably heat treated alloy.

My H&Rs just arrived too...but I just ordered new CAs and bushings so it'll have to wait a lil longer.
Where'd you get the front suspension components, if you don't mind me asking? I'm going to be in the market soon.

You might regret the ebay control arm purchase later on.

Yo man, how are those eBay control arms w/bushings, did you get a chance to test them out yet? BTW how many of you actually called up IE to cancel, I still have my order on file with them even though my H&R sports are sitting in my living room, LOL. ;)

...And they still haven't come in yet!!! I believe myself and Motorsport called in sometime in June to cancel, ordered the Races and got them 7 bus days later. I haven't put my new CAs in yet for lack of time and bigger fish to fry with the hose replacements that I still haven't finished yet...
